Taste Porto

Porto is renowned for its famous wine, which bears the city's name. Our walking tour, "Taste Porto," revolves around the theme of wine tasting, beginning at the Mercado located in the basement of Sao Bento Station and ending at the riverfront. Rick and Barbara provided a special commentary on the delectable food and beverages along the way.

The last stop on the Taste Porto Tour was Prova Wine Bar on Rua Ferreira Borges 86. We had the opportunity to taste a typical Duoro Valley red wine, Muxagat Tinta Barroca, which was paired with a delicious veal meat pie in a buttery crust. Later, we were served a White Port, Andresen, with the pastries that our tour guide Ricardo had purchased from Confeitaria e Pastelaria Moura, a famous pastry shop owned by the Moura family that has been open since 1892. At this tasting location, we were able to satisfy our sweet cravings by sampling two pastries from a bakery with a 120-year-old tradition, thanks to the knowledgeable and enthusiastic staff that made the experience all the more enjoyable.
