The Pilgimage

Our Lady of Fatima is the most revered shrine in Portugal and among the world's most visited pilgrimage sites. The name "Fatima" comes from the Arabic root, meaning "a shining light," which is also a female Muslim name. Our Lady of Fatima, bearing this name, invites people from all nations to heed her message: pray for peace. For me, the Fatima experience represents the pinnacle of my Catholic faith and devotion to the Virgin Mary, who appeared and revealed her message to three little shepherds, Lucia, Francisco, and Jacinta, on May 13, 1917. The countless prayerful pilgrims, the hourly Rosary prayers, and the Holy Mass for thousands of pilgrims from May to October months filled me with immense hope and gratitude. We seek Mother Mary's assurance to bring us closer to our Maker, and our prayer intentions are lifted up in this Holy Shrine.
