Conimbriga Ruinas

Before our visit to Coimbra, we were amazed by the Roman ruins of Conimbriga, dating back to around 200-465 AD. The House of Fountains was particularly remarkable, with its intact rooms, tiles, and mosaic, as well as its functioning water fountains. The Romans lived a lavish lifestyle, complete with public and private spas, artisan workshops, and a theater. The ruins complex now includes a museum and a cafeteria for visitors to enjoy and linger.

Directions

To reach Conimbriga, visitors can take a bus from Coimbra-A train station, or another bus ride by Joalto or Transdev that stops by the Mondego river. Alternatively, a taxi ride costs around 20 Euros one way.
